Therefore, the banks make it difficult to move and withdraw your own money, whilst
companies and organisations are allowed the higher risk, some banks allow £50000 ie cahoot, but RBS £10000

But this also makes it more difficult for a fraudelent transaction!

perception of risk, more than by jobs worth mentality, causes inconvenience
and loss of interest,5 transactions when one would do ,deters no -one just increases the risk by five

My other half wanted to transfer 6k from her Halifax account to my account, and while standing in the branch she was told that she would have to do it by CHAPS at a cost, they refused point blank to do it by BACS.

Phoning phone banking, they let her do it by BACS but she "had to set up a recurring transaction but only pay it once"
    Shuffle up and deal!

If time was of essence to you then they were correct CHAPS is the only way of ensuring same day transfers between two banks.
If time was not of importance then she could have issued you with one of her cheques (or a HBOS bank cheque) and you could have paid it into your account.

Strange, why, did they give a reason,I would request an explanation. Each bank appears to have different policy and limits
