Well Steph998. It would appear that you are the one whose cage was rattled. At least I did not sink to personal abuse. You are obviously the sort of person who does not want anyone to gainsay your opinion. Never let facts interfere with an opinion. You carry on thinking what you think and I will carry on knowing what I know.
Don't bother to reply as I am no more interested in your opinion of me, than you are of my opinion of you.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Hi, 27col: I don't think we have an appreciative audience on this one...we can but try:confused: This article sums up the situation nicely.

    Ho hum.

Typical. Start something, and then once you have had your say, stick your fingers in your ears and say 'La La, I'm not listening'.

I did not 'sink' to to personal abuse. My comments were merely observations based on your apparently intolerant attitude. Indeed...personal abuse should not be tolerated on this forum, please feel free to pass your concerns on to the moderators.
However, perhaps you should remember this when you pepper your posts to the apparently great unwashed on this DIY thread with things like ' for goodness sake, how many times does it have to be said' and other patient, helpful responses.

So, putting any possible insults to one side, are you saying 27col is incorrect.?

Unfortunately your posts may be a bit misleading to people reading them though. You appear to be saying that your utility bills have not increased since you have had your conservatory isntalled. That quite simply doesn't represent the facts that conservatories are notoriously badly insulated and will require a great deal of heat input to keep them at a useable temperature, even if you have a very highly specced one like you seem to have.

If people are happy at having to cover higher heating bills to use the room year round that is fine but to say your bills have not increased doesn't really show a reflective picture if what most poeple seem to find. It is good that you as a family are aware enough to reduce your heat consumption elsewhere when using the room, most people probably will not be

as said before, i have a very basic conservatory, and since we have had it built, the increase in our gas bills has been negligible. Now some may argue you cant get a true reading, as temps vary from year to year, so usuage would change, but tbh the winter we have just gone through, has been quite a cold and prolonged one, so i would have thought my bills would have been huge. Draw whatever conclusion you want from that!

Well, sorry if you think my posts were misleading. I am not trying to mislead anyone, I am simply giving a personal account of life with a conservatory in my house! Sorry if it doesn't fit with everyone else's experiences...or the 'facts' about conservatory's, or indeed the flippin' principles of heat flow. I don't appear to be saying that our bills have not increased, I AM saying that our bills have not increased since we built the conservatory.

As Flea says...draw your own conclusions, but please don't tell me I am trying to mislead the OP!!

At least Flea and I actually have a conservatory and the subsequent heating bills to comment on.....unlike a few other posters here who think all that matter is 'principles and facts' when it comes to advice.

FWIW...we have a conservatory (it came with the house) but choose not to heat or use it during the winter here in the sunny south and have the subsequent (low) heating bills to comment on.. I wonder what advice should be based on:confused:

Wish my heating bill had not gone up, with the 30% increase in gas prices and that.
