Desperate and needing help - Thanks

I did it!!!
All letters opened now - even found a few debts from a couple of years ago - old addresses, have included these as I just want a clean sheet now. The total figure isn't as scary as I thought but it doesn't include the negative equity from my house as it hasn't been sold yet or the £8000 redemption fee that the mortgage company are charging for not completing our fixed rate term.
Next job - application form!!!
Have to make sure that I don't say in the About you section - "24 year old single mum, currently living back with parent as home was reposessed and preparing for bankruptcy... please employ..."0 -
Day 3 - Big Steps taken today!!!
Collated all my paperwork together today and I am finally opening the letters (In between lurking on here)
I have also recieved the application pack for the job that I enquired about on Monday and state that they will run a criminal check but nothing about a credit check - this sounds like a really stupid question but will my house being reposessed show up on that?

Hi Kebab29 - Best thing is for you to contact your local council re LHA and they can tell you if qualify and how much for but beware - I called mine 3 times and had 3 different amounts quoted to me, I checked on the online calculator and got another 2 amounts. In the end I went onto the DWP advisors website and worked it out manually myself, I then got this figure confirmed with the council and I was right. If you get no joy with your council, I can tell you how I worked out mine.
thanks for the advise will do that tomorrow
cheers0 -
Hi stokegal
I don't know about the PA job but I know that our kids school have sent home a letter requesting parent governers for september and on there it does say you can not be currently bankrupt when part of the PTFA. Whether this would be the same for general school staff I don't know. Could you look on the local authority/education website to see if that has any information under the jobs section?0 -
Thanks Jenni
I've had a look online to see if I can see anything more information but I'm at a loss - there is a lot of information about you can't become a school govenor if bankrupt but nothing about working in a school. One website said that some councils do not employ people who are bankrupt but I can't find anything which says Stoke on Trent Council will or won't.
Can someone work their magic and see if I'm missing something (excuse me I am blonde and it is late!!) and help me out please
Thanks in advance0 -

If there is no declaration section on the application form then i doubt you will find it is a problem, they wont go through an application process (costly) and then ask for details they could have requested already.
I suspect school governors have to be checked as they are in effect on a commitee that will directly have influence over school finances.
It sounds like a nasty position for you to be in but just remember, you are now at the bottom, the only way is up, all the best for a bright future for you and your baby :beer:0 -
I've done it :j:j:j - finally got my backside in gear and completed the million page application form and adjusted my cv so that I look like the perfect candidate!!!
Have even called CCCS too about going bankrupt - Is it just me or do they do everything to pursuade you not to? I understand that it is not a quick fix and like everyone on here I stand on lose a lot, my 4 years experiance of working within a finance department are effectively worthless and I am devasted that the one job I really enjoyed and was good at is no longer an option for me to return to because of going bankrupt. Anyway onwards and upwards now0
