ING/Kaupthing Offer - What did you choose?

If you're a former Kaupthing Edge customer who was offered ING's 6 month bonus option or to keep their existing variable rate + 0.3% account options, then this one is for you.

I thought it might be interesting to see which option everyone went for and why...

We went for the bonus option and lumped up the accounts a bit.

    Neither, they're not FSCS protected.

(I'm sure the Dutch scheme is perfectly good but I just want to keep it simple.)

Stuck with existing (guaranteed to be at least base rate plus 0.3% until 2011) - haven't got much in the account - only have it as it was required when I took out 3 different fixed rate (7%+) deals with Kaupthing in the Summer - the amount I would gain by switching my easily available cash across for 6 months wasn't worth the hassle.

    I chose the BR+0.3% option.
My reasoning is... I have other savings accounts that pay 3%+ (Tesco), but I don't have any other accounts with a base rate guarantee.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Chose this option also, as I had already opened an ING account prior to this so had the other offer. Moving everything (except £1) from old KE to first ING.

May I please ask... what does lumped up mean?

Maybe he was going for bumped?
  • BOE +0.3% - I have 6.3% fixed with Egg til November so would be pointless going for the short term 6 month option as I wouldn't use it.

I chose the 6 months option - but won't make use of it until July. +0.3% above BoE rate is too small to take any notice of.

Anyone know if the 6 months starts from when you accepted the offer or from a fixed date?

We have 2 accounts so went for both options.

Moved cash to the 6-month bonus option, was then 4% and will move over to the other account paying the variable rate + 0.3% should that pay a better rate.
