Well Done - you have given your daughter a good start in life. You are a great inspiration to her to be carefull in her spending - this Im sure will certainly help her in years to come.
Its amazing how much we (as a nation ) actually fritter away. This site is the best Ive ever come across all my friends and neighbours now consult it for any finance queries or purchases they are going to make. Its saved the whole street thousands of pounds.
we are tightening our belts and Ive drawn up budgets for everything - fuel spending, food shopping etc. so Im hoping to pay our mortgage off within 3 years. A thrifty couple of years will be well worth it.
SammyD Im with you on all your comments - people get very jealous if you have small or no mortgage, yet they forget the sacrifices you may have made - i.e no holidays, no new cars, no latest technology gizmos.
Thanks for this inspirational story its certainly let me see the light at the end of the tunnelThanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -
Well done, it's nice to know that budgeting really does have it's benefits. I think it makes it that little bit easier to stick with too.
Although it's a massive shame that most people can't get a house for that price anymore.. but that's a whole other debate lol.

An insipiring story indeed - I am intrigued about the Boots cucumber - can you enlighten me please?0

The cucumber range is one of Boots facial products ranges - things like cleanser, face masks, eye gel etc. There used to be very regular offers on it giving 150 point per product (£1.50 worth of points). Most items cost less than £1.50, so not only were they free, but there was a profit in buying them.
The tills used to multiply the points by the number of products, so four things equalled 600 points. In effect all everything was free. I used to fill a gift bags (also bought on boots offers) with these items and use them as gifts for my daughter's friends. They were aged around 11 -13 so it was perfect. I haven't seen such a good offer recently on thses products.0 -
excellent and good luck for the future
and also best of luck to people who are trying to achieve the same0 -
Well done you !!! That is fantastic, when I divorced I also brought up my daughter on my own and the one big worry was paying the mortgage every month, but now you have the security of knowing that the house is all yours and you'll never have to worry about it again, which must be a wonderful feeling. :j :j :j
I have to agree with some of the others that if we could get reasonably priced houses then a few more of us might manage it too.My daughter (she's in her twentys now) would love a place of her own but where we live (Lake District) her and b/f would have to pay just shy of 200k for a tiny two up two down with no garden or parking,it's completely ridiculous. So looks like they will have to rent until me and stepdad croak !!!!0 -
