Which Washing Machine

Mine has finally packed up.
Can anyone recommend a good make. I know they don't last long these days and you can look in Kelkoo for reviews but I would like to know who has a reliable machine that has lasted for years.
Cheers
PS where to buy cheapest would also help. Have a Currys nearby. Are Sainsburys competitive?
PPS Have seen this one

Would anyone recommend a washer dryer instead of a standard washing machine. How do I know which are condensing as we do not have an outlet?

I was told in another thread not to go for a washer dryer (not one person thought it was a good idea).
I've just stumbled across your post on the way to find mine - so I can't help you further!0 -
I am no washing machine expert so I am not going to advise on models but my GF will not get a washing machine if it does not have a "hand wash" cycle on it!!!
Plus, take a look on pricerunner.co.uk when you have decided.. if you buy it over the net buy it on your credit card so if it never turns up you can get your money back.Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife I'd put poison in your coffee."

DON'T BUY A HOTPOINT the new ones are rubbish - I had one really old one (approx 24 years old) it packed up 18 months ago and I bought a replacement. 18 months later it packed up - blew two circuit boards and nearly torched my utility room.
My mum recommended a BOSCH, so that's what I bought. they are approx £500+ but they last the longest and are very very reliable. I spent the CTC on one! Now the IRS want the money back, but that's another story.
Really look at what programmes you actually use to wash your clothes. If you don't have delicates or wool you won't need that wash programme.
It's like dishwashers - I have m8s who have a scary "you need a degree in computer science" to work out how to make it wash your stuff and they tell me they only use one programme.
I have an indesit dishwasher and it just does two programmes wash and dry or wash and leave wet. That's it.
Indesit aren't too bad. I really think you get what you pay for.
Try Goodhousekeeping for reviews of appliances or Which? are quite good.
I will echo what everyone else says don't buy a washer dryer -
they go wrong very expensively.
the wash load and the drying load are often very different.
if the dryer is running you can't wash any clothes.
Cheap tumble dryers are available from the electrical barns for about £60 i think...just in case you need to know:

This website has a lot of good advice. Can't take the credit for finding it though, it's mentioned a few times on the OS board.:smileyhea0

Just had a quick look at the site I use and the:
Bosch WFL 2067 Classixx £250
Bosch WFO 2467 both sub £300
Bosch WFX 2868 £400
Bosch WBB 24759 Logixx both over £300 <<< this one is huge tho and is over £700
I think you may be able to see the common denominator tho OP - you wont go far wrong with a Bosch - hope this helps.
PS if money is no object then go for a Miele!
Google it - or use the shop bots like THIS0 -
Thank you to everyone.
I have used the recommended website and narrowed my manufacturer down to Bosch and AEG.
Interestingly, B&Q have rated AEG above Bosch (overall I think, not just for washing machines - http://www.diyappliancewarehouse.com/Popup.aspx?ID=range).
Currys have the AEG L54810 on offer at £279.95 plus delivery (web exclusive). I think I will go for that one.
Many thanksThere is always light within the dark0
