theres an agent on rightmove that ive seen tagging there adds saying they have an offer on this property and the amount. saw one this weekend that was only 2k under asking price and still they were punting for more offers..

Could they have been reposessions? Aren't EAs obliged to advertise offers as they have a duty to get as much for reposessions as possible?
  • Depending on where you are in the country, houses are going for above asking.

I second this, sold 2 properties over asking price last week  madness!
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

My fault for posting the update so long after the event... things were a lot different at the time in this area. Every house within our budget had been on the market for months (including the one we were gazumped on) as nobody wanted to offer the asking.

The one we were gazumped on, there was another estate agency in the picture which had more than a bit to do with the higher offer from the other buyer.

We had offered the asking price, which was £425k.
    It sold for £420k.
Looks like karma kicked in somewhere :D

Wonder if the gazumpers pulled out or just gazundered at the last moment? Doesn't really matter, the sellers got the luck they deserved! ;)

God works in mysterious ways and all that!
