Property bee has running costs and needs donations

but thr beer hunter , who i take o be the guy who wrote it had this to say.....
I'm back from the pub and maybe a bit outspoken
I'm not sure about 'Kerching'
At the moment around 2,000 people use PB daily, yet about 70 people have donated... those 70 have paid host property-bee for the last 6 months for everyone else and I'm truly grateful for their donation and enthusiasm.
At the moment property-bee is not making a profit... and I've not taken any cash for my efforts, however as a honorable person, I've made a few donations on property-bee's behalf;
* a small donation to creditcrunch.co.uk because their news service is a time saver and a daily must visit for everyone.
* a donation to who made your pants?, a recent co-op start up by a friend who has quit their job to work on this. I think it's a fantastic idea, and embodies the 'bee' principle of working together way beyond whether a house is priced right or not.
Getting back to property-bee, I've not said this publicly before, but everyone needs to realize without donations property-bee wouldn't be able to continue... but it also means I need to have an "exit strategy" as I can't afford to fund it myself.
At the moment donations are paying for hosting in arrears (ie I've put up the cash for the first 12 months of hosting, donations have paid for the next 6 months so far).
If at a time when the 6 monthly hosting bill needs to be paid there isn't enough in the kitty I'll pay the difference and remove the donate button, once those 6 months are up property-bee will cease.

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

How much web space and bandwidth does the service use?0

PB is great and beerhunter deserves a gong!
Seriously, I don't think he's the type of guy who likes to ask for money, BUT, at the end of the day he's giving up loads of his time for free developing the code, the least he should expect is that we should pay for his out of pocket expenses (hosting etc).
I'd be more than happy to pay for it on a subscription basis so he got some earnings out of it too.
I donated for the second time last Friday - but I admit that both donations were prompted by seeing these messages. The donate button should be BIG and BOLD on the toolbar!0 -
Yeah I'll give them a few quid, it is very useful.0

just used the site for the first time, ill definately give them something, looks very useful0

I'll be donating, but I was wondering that too.How much web space and bandwidth does the service use?
Seems a bit churlish to chuck £10 in the pot if the bandwidth bill's £1500/month
Maybe if he suggested people chuck in one hour's pay ... there's a lot of you rich bugg4hs out there.
I'm chucking in 2 hours' worth, gross.0 -
I wondered where the donate button was. Thanks geoffky.
I use property bee, but never go on the property-bee web site. It's a very small donate button.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.0 -
The hosting costs appear to be £100 per month if you go by the fact he reckons he'l lose £600 if he has to pay for hossting for 6 months.
Seems reasonable enough for people to be able to fork out a couple of quid each.matched betting: £879.63
