    Knock the power off.

Unscrew the switch cover off the box.

Turn 180 deg. and put the cover back.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

As post #2 ................ unless it's part of a pair of switches to the same light!
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

I've got one the same. Why does it bother you so much? It's quite fun I reckon.

that would really bother me too!!

5 min job, as long as you know where to switch the circuit off from, and also conform with IEE regs, remember the law has changed so that anyone working on electrical stuff must be recognised as competent;) .

Might have a "change over" switch fitted, then change the single wire in one of the "two" positions to the other one.

I can't believe that you are asking this question. Turning a switch upside down hardly qualifies as needing an electrician. Do what ariba10 says. Just make sure that you switch the power off at the consumer unit.
I can afford anything that I want.

As then the switches will be in the wrong place...

The upstairs switch will be on the downstairs side and vice versa!

So...you have two light switches for the same light? One upstairs and one downstairs?

When we moved in to our new place we had two or three switches like this that bugged me. I think I did re-wire them, because some didn't have enough slack to rotate (plus some were double switches!).
Thought you were allowed to do "basic" electrical maintenance like that without having to be fully certified...?
