Can anyone offer advice for software that will convert .avi files to be burned to play on a normal dvd player please, Vista is my OS
I have had a look around the web, but would prefer sound advise from people here who have actually had some experience of doing it with software that they know works, thanks in advance

Recommend "convert x to dvd" not free but good, if you want free try DIKO0

i use WINAVI its an all in one programme that converts avi,xvid,ect to dvd and includes its own burning engine to put the files onto a dvd disc,but as with all video converting software its quite a slow process and puts a huge drain on the processor of even a top spec machine.If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.0

Just an afterthought,if the converted files are just for home use have you considered something similar to this, you can put the avi files on a cd or flash drive and watch them on your tv without the hassle of converting them. http://svp.co.uk/product/umax_yamada_dvd_7500x_divx_dvd_player_and_cd_ripper_umax025
