Need help with group sale in Church Hall - checks needed?

I volunteer for a community group who run a shop selling second hand goods. I am planning a large sale for which we are going to be using the local church hall.
Can anyone help give me an idea of the number of things we need - license, extra insurance, risk assessments etc etc.

Many thanks!

Those renting you the church hall will advise of anything they want: they should have their own Public Liability Insurance, but may require you to confirm that your group's insurance covers this event, so a call to your insurer wouldn't go amiss.

One obvious thing that you'd already be aware of is safety of the goods you are selling - I can't see that you'd need to do more than you would already. Especially electricals - either you don't sell them (many charity shops don't), or you get them safety tested by a competent person first.

Risk assessment would be a good idea. You'll need a float. Will you need bouncers? Or at least people on the door to take admission money (if you are charging) or to deal with anyone taking things they haven't paid for.

Thank you - the sale is only going to be clothes and books.

We're not charging admission although we may have a suggested donation tin.
