be careful, its one thing to sell the odd thing from your house/personal items.
Its another matter buying to sell as it becomes taxable income then

well, why not watch items on e-bay, see what sells, what doesn't and how much they go for...

  • also bear in mind that maybe some of the people at the car boot may have tried to sell their stuff on ebay with no luck! I always use the car boot sale as the last resort as I would much rather try it on ebay from the comfort of my own home than get up in the early hours of the morning!

but thats not to say thats always the case, Im sure there are a lot of bargains to be found! :) good luck!!
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!

    Hi julie,
Sorry to put a damper on your boot sale idea.
Its a good one but maybe the trick is not to tell people that you are buying
to sell, just sell and smile.

PS i just Lurve car boot sales

If you don't mind a slight risk, I would concentrate on items you can make at least £15-£20 mark up as you then only have to sell about 5 - it's a lot easier than having to list and sell 100 things making £1 on each. Also your less likely to have hassles with ebay/paypal pushing you to ubgrade accounts, limiting accounts ect etc

The only risk is obviously a potential bigger loss if the items don't sell - but if you do your research first and see what sells for what amounts then there shouldn't be too much risk attached.

The problem is half the sellers at car boots are ebayers, the stuff on their stalls is the stuff they can't sell online. Everybody knows about ebay now, you'll find browsing for little trinkets that have huge markets difficult if not impossible.

The only times I car boot (and it is not something I enjoy) is to get rid of the cupboard loads of stuff that just won't shift on ebay or Amazon (for books).
