Legally, by providing the service they owe you a 'duty of care'. If their machine over inflated your tyre and you had an accident as a result of that, they would be vicariously liable. Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] refers to the precedent on negligence:A very interesting point though! Wonder where you stood legally if you charge for a service such as air, gauge is faulty, driver over inflates, tyre suffers blow out etc etc......?

A blow out after filling from a non calibrated compressor/gauge? Could only prove if you were able to catch all the air that came out of the tyre when it blew. Is a blow out not normally caused more by a damaged tyre or tyre defect?
I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some time before.0 -
Those answers that you gave some time before were actually questions!scotsman4th wrote: »I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some time before.0 -
I never do my tyres anyway (can't hold the nozzle on hard enough to work it) but designate the man of the house to do the job - and he really really begrudges paying for air... where we used to live the local Tesco charged something like 50p... unfortunately for them, the Asda half a mile away did it for free so guess which one we went to to fill up/do tyres/carwash?Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
