Crushed by the spiraling debts due to BT and SKY Billing Errors

I am having a nightmare. Last Febuary, I contacted BT and asked if they could make my bills cheaper than Sky. They told me that I could go onto BT option 3 and this would include a level of free calls which would reduce my bill.
I decided to go with them. That was last year. Now, I have noticed that SKY have been charging me for phonecalls for the full period of time and that BT have also been charging me.
My bank pointed this out and contacted SKY asking them to re-imburse me for the phonecalls I had been billed for during this time. SKY agreed and refunded me £1000.
Now sky have contacted a debt collection agency to chase me for the refund that they gave me in Novemeber. They state that I was with them and not BT for this period of time. I have bills for BT for option 3 plan dating back to Feb last year. I am confused...how can I owe 2 companies for this period of time for the same calls?
What is included in BT option 3? And can I be charged by 2 companies for phonecalls? I spoke to BT today and they basically said that I only signed up to FREE call from them....suggesting that the paid calls were charged by SKY? Can this be right? Has anyone heard of such a thing?
And what do I do next? PLEASE HELP!!!

The (former) BT Together Option 3 package would have covered all UK 01, 02 and 03 calls of up to 60 minutes each you made at any time.
However, if you still had Sky Talk CPS active, your calls would have been routed via Sky regardless of what package you were on with BT.
Did it really take you a whole year to realise you were being billed by 2 companies?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
well, I'm being honest. It was my mother who did this and she suffers from a mental illness. And yes, she's a bit slow with finances. I've come in at the tail end of this situation and I'm trying to help.
Any ideas about the refund I received? Why would they refund me initially and then chase me for it 2 months later?0
