Charges related to using Teletop for International Calls

Hi, I am not sure if this has been discussed before so please excuse me if it has.
For the past month I have been using Teletop for all my international calls (our friends and family all live in 0p/m destinations). All my local/national calls are with JustDial and 1899 and to keep track of the international calls I have been routing them through BT with 1280 (because I get paper bills). So I perused my BT bill when it came in and much to my astonishment I find the calls have been divided into Evening/W-end and Daytime and charged differently as well.
I checked the teletop site again and all that I can see is that they state that a 5p connection charge is payable on each call. This has panned out on the evening/w-end calls but not on the daytime calls. The teletop access number is a London 0208 number and all the lengthy daytime calls have been charged at 4ppm ....which sounds like normal BT daytime charges to me (it has been so long since I was with BT)
My international bill is still way below what it would be with any other of the options available but it is still over double what I thought it would be. My is error routing the calls through BT. If I route teletop through 1899 will the calls be subject to their 3p connection fee and then teletop's 5p connection fee .
If anyone can confirm my thoughts or offer anything new I would appreciate this.

The 5p connection charge is taken out of your top up account, whatever way you access it the charge is applied
If you dial the 0208 access number via BT its charged as a normal 01/02 geographical call hence the different rate time charges .
If you dialed it via 1899 just a 3p connection charge would normally be raised for a 0208 call.If you dialled it at E&W from JDS the call would be free if you have the free E&W call package.
I have read before that 1899 who also own Teletop bar access to the Teletop number.I dont know if this still applies.
They do have a sister company http://www.topupnow.co.uk/index2.php
which offers access by a 0808 freephone you might find this cheaper to use.PF.0 -
thanks pricefighter
I tried dialling through 1899 and 18185 and you are right they are barred. ZERO pence per minute is a con. There is no such thing I feel as 0ppm outside of E/W times. Topupnow charge 2ppm to aust for instance which is same as the daytime rate through JDS to Teletop's 0208 access number. I recall checking over all the information (not much of it) on teletop's site before proceeding so I wish that I had known that BT would still apply their charges and I would have modified my usage. if anyone knows how to get 0ppm with teletop without additional charges I would be most interested to know.0 -
The only way your get free calls to their 0208 access number from a landline is if you have a 24/7 01/02 call package. Or if you have a mobile with inclusive 01/02 minutes.
In view of the costs involved in calling the 0208 access number at peak rate.Your probaly find cheaper ways/ not free of calling some destinations by having a look at MSE Call Checker.
