25k worth of building work that wants done with prices are still dropping and the fact you aren't exactly losing out financially by renting when your mortgage payments are actually the same price as your rent, especially if it ends up being higher than your rent if you include the monthly cost of your insurances and assurances.
Did your mortgage lender put any retentions on it since the surveyor is saying you need to do some structural work on it?
Mind this isn't really a post saying OMG YOU ARE DOOMED STAY IN RENTED FOREVER!!! but I definitely would be seeing if there were other houses in that price range that don't need as much work done on them. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

You don't really believe that the stamp duty threshold will drop below £175k again do you? :rotfl:0 -
is it possible that the price you offered might be fair because the property needed development? i mean, if it already had a lovely kitchen and double-glazing then it may have been worth even more that that which you are offering. does that make sense? anyway, bottom line is, like everyone is saying, if you're not happy with your offer then make a revised offer.0
