I am useless and I mean dangerous at DIY - I am looking for some shelving/storage - loft ladder installed - pictures/mirrors/curtains to be hung.

Anyone have any ideas>

Your local free paper, Rnm......Dial a Servic
e or the classified section...or even put in an advertisement yourself...handyman wanted....retain him for odd jobs ...he will be building up a client list and jolly useful if he can do plumbing as well......and simple electrics.

thanks Ken, problem is I'm a bit of a cynic and prefer word of mouth - but we have just moved to the area...I guess I will have to do this if all else fails

Ask your neighbours if they can recommend any workmen? Or if you see postcards in shop windows phone and ask the people to give you references, I know they'll only give you people who will say nice things about them, but if you ask (very nicely!) if you can go and see what they have done, that might help.

I'm not anywhere near you, but truly I cannot speak too highly of the chap who did our fence, and I told anyone who asked me that I trusted him and felt he did a good job (AND cleared up after himself!), I would have said the same to anyone who'd phoned me up!
