Lloyds TSB Current Account to Student Account

Hi Guys I have a small question

I have had a Lloyds TSB current account now for over 2 years in which my salary from my full time work has been paid in to.

In September I am starting University as a full time student so I am wanting to change my account to a Student account and I was just wondering if anyone knew if Lloyds carried out a credit check on existing customers, an internal check or both

I am asking this because in the last 6 months I have had 6 credit searches  and think this may come back on me when I apply to change my account.

Thanks

Aaron

Why have you had 6 credit seaches in 6 months?

They will do a credit search but unless you are wanting an overdraft then you will be fine (should be)

I think they will open a new student account for you rather than upgrade your current account.

Lloyds wont do a credit search or anything until your internal score is 6 or below. I opened my account a few months back and need to convert to a student account, but I'm a 7 and they wont have anything - yet when I tried to open one online they opened another current account in error and still wont open or convert my account.

When you are a 6 or lower they will convert or open a new account with no credit search at all - my bank manager told me this.

I'm in the process of closing my account as I've been told that if I don't credit with £500 minimum per month, I'm in breach of the account T&Cs and they will close it. I explained being a newly full time student again, I might not be crediting some months.

Instead I'll just use my FD acc, as I don't have to credit any minimum with them :)

Thanks for your help guys :T

I went in to my Local branch today and I had to book an Appointement to see someone as the lady I spoke to said that they only open a student account by appointement.

It is my local branch not a large branch in town so only has 4 members of staff.

So I just have to wait till next Thursday for them to fit me in and see what goes on from there
