Hi All
Just looking for a bit of advice, I have a really large window in my lounge, it's approx 235cm by 115cm and desperately needs a covering since the light shines straight onto our tv which is directly opposite.
It needs to be relatively cheap and I'm having trouble with 'off the peg' blinds because they're normally measured at 120cm wide (would use 2) but the window is a pain at 235cm - so I'm thinking about DIY kits for blinds.
Does anyone have any experience of them? I'm stuck a bit because I have no sewing experience, could I use stick on hem? Or are there highstreet seamstresses out there who I could ask to make up for me? Anyone have any other solutions? I've thought about voile but I'm not convinced that this will stop the glare on the tv
Any help appreciated!
EDIT: hell of a lot of questions there eh?? lol

"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."

I made my own blinds for the conservatory in my last house, but not from a kit. I made a panel of fabric as wide as the window, and sewed a thin pocket across the width every 12 inches, slid a stick down each of the folds, sewed small curtain rings on to the pockets. Finshed with a length of cord through each of the rings and an eyelet screwed into a batten at the top of the window, blind fixed to the batten with velcro so it was easy to remove for washing.
Clear as mud eh? But I found the following website which might help:

I also made a London blind for the bathroom, was a lot easier to make but not to open & close.0 -
lol thanks sujester, I should have explained that I have zero ability to sew! thanks a lot for your reply though. Do you think I could get a local seamstress to do such a thing??"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0
