Really silly question i know! We've just bought a new king size bed and are planning to re-do our bedroom, its been a pit since last year so finally getting round to it this coming week - fingers crossed!
We've been in our house for 5 years now and trying to get away from the whole cream black canvas with splashes of colour look, and go for a proper lived in house now!
BUT I still don't know what colour scheme/style to go for and it's totally bugging me now! We've got a black faux leather bed and want to go for a feature wallpaper wall behind it.
Wanted a plum/aubergine colour initally and bought some wallpaper which i thought looked awful when it was up, so put me off it, but i keep looking for bedding in that colour!
Loads of people i know have done chocolate brown and teal/blue - so don't want that.
I love black & white - but now sure how comy and restful that will look - worried it may be a bit stark....? Have just seen a gorgeousssss zebra print duvet cover on ebay but don't know if its a bit Pat Butcher! Can get zebra print wall paper too...someonw stop me from bidding now!!
Sooooo. any advice, inspiration, ideas would be lovely please! DH will leave me if we don't get it sorted this week as he's taken time of work specially to do it. I've been round to so many shops i'm sick of shopping but need to get stuff asap now.
Thanks for any help guys.

yellow and white is always good for a bedroom. give the illusion of sunny days etc...
pink is a very calming color and suitable for a bedroom.Get some gorm.0 -
A bold patterned wallpaper in a bedroom can appear to be somewhat overpowering, unless you really have a huge room - a room that remains huge when you put a huge bed in it
Personally, I think that plain walls work best, with all the colour/pattern left to the bedding and accessories e.g. rug, paintings/pictures etc. This way you can instantly change the look by changing the accessories, without the need to completely redecorate.
What about making a picture/panel with the wallpaper instead? Something you can hang on the wall to create the look, whilst having the option to remove it, if you change in the future?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Wondering if you have given in to your Pat Butcher Zebra print bedding? If you love it then go for it but keep everything else simple. White walls and perhaps Debt Free Chicks idea of covering some cheap panels with the coordinating wallpaper to hang behind the bed. Could look stunning and may even bring the animal out in your hubby!;)0

if you are going to use a bold colour , just do one feature wall and then something a lot lighter
darker shades make rooms appear a lot smaller0 -
Thanks guys for the ideas and for taking the time out!
You know when you just get a mental block and you can't think anymore -i was just trying to get over that block!
Anne3333 and DebtFreeChick - that's what i actually thought about doing, with a bit of nickJ thrown in! Aubergine feature wall (can't help it - keep going for that colour!!) and a bit of zebra print bedding and a canvas above the bed on the aubergine wall. The rest of the room willbe simple anyway as the planis to get sliding doors put across the back wall.
Thanks for the tips guys - better get shopping tomorrow!0 -

i.ve got mine a jade green colour on all of the walls, with pure white bedding and curtains. looks so calming, feels really relaxing, even if you do have to boil wash the bedding once a week!0
