Wedding Account

Morning

The girlfriend and I would like to open a savings account for our wedding and was just wondering what the best is out there. We would be paying around £125 into each month so was just wondering if there are any cashback deals for such accounts around etc?

Thanks in advance

While ING may still be offering £20 for opening a savings account, I am assuming you are planning to save for some time.

In that case, I'd suggest getting the best possible interest rate is where to start, as this will earn you more than £20 over time. Regular savings accounts and ISAs are a good place to start.

Here's a list of regular savers which can still get you up to 6% interest.

I'd check out the terms and conditions first before committing to one. Typically they allow no withdrawals for a year, which may suit. Personally I'd open one each (£65 a month) so that if you did need to break the terms any penalty would be halved.

At maturity, remember to review exactly where you put the funds. Don't just leave them in a low paying savings account with the bank you invested with.

Finally, keep some money outside a regular saver account for occasional costs you may incur between now and your wedding day. The ING one may be suitable for you, although I currently like the Halifax ISA paying 3% (if you have a spare £1000 or more).

(You'd probably have been better posting this on the 'savings' part of the forum).
