Barclays Current Account

I have a Barclays Current Account.

Not used it for quite a while, there was £5 in so i added a couple of thousand to it.

Used it once and then found all transactions online were blocked. Come to the conclusion that maybe they done it thinking its been dormant for so long and now is active like its been stolen.

Anyway went to try it in cashpoint and bam the machine took the card even though the pincode was correct.

What do I do?

Do I simply ring them and say yes it was me using the card and they Enable transactions again, that simple?

Also I do not want to tell them the card has been taken by a machine yet, will they already know this?. My reasons are I want to use the Card this week on many transactions online and cannot afford to wait for them to cancel that one and reissue new cards n pins. I already have copies of the card details that was taken details.
Its for Cheltenham Racing

Is this possible to use the card if the account is activated even though its gone?

    Contact Barcalys asap.

Of course they know your card has been swallowed.. don't even think about trying to us it online.

Damn it. Was gonna make about £2000 this week on cheltenham for a friends wedding. Waiting for replacement Card take too long and miss out on the offers

This is just typical, stupid barclays had no right to block the account when there was money in there.

You had an account you haven't used for a while. Suddenly you pump £2000 into it and are surprised when they think to themselves this is not normal activity for this account?

They have every right to put a stop on the account to protect themselves, shareholders, other customers and to comply with money laundering regulations.

They will know the card has been retained, it will most likely appear on a warning screen for somebody to mark off on the morning reports.

Your best bet is to go into branch with proof of id and address, and where the money has come from. That should get your account restarted quickly.

I think you should be able to get the cash in branch at the same time. Move it back to your other account and use that one to make the transactions you want to make.

I'm sure if you order a new card on Monday, it will arrive by Friday.

When is your friend's wedding at Cheltenham? You might get if before the wedding if it's next Thrusday or Friday, or the weekend.

Basing your decisions and opinions - be they of Barclays or any other company - based on the vocal minority on an internet forum (especially one such as this) is naive.
