That is fraud and its not very fare on your cat.
If you take out cover and then put a claim in shortly after the Insurers will be asking the vet a lot more questions than normal.
If your genuinely skint you could go to the PDSA for treatment as its free for qualifying people

Thanks for the moral guidance, just what I came on here for.
I have never done anything other than whats best for my pet, all the times he has required treatment he has got it but he is the clumsiest animal in the world always getting injured.
I wont take it out then wouldnt want to get my naughty little hands slapped by the insurer now would I.0 -
I'm only telling you the implications of doing what you suggested, Pet Insurers get people taking cover out after an injury etc all the time and are pretty good at picking it up. Its classed as fraud so if they discover it they will just pass details on to the police and cancel your policy. Once you have had a policy cancelled by an Insurer like this you will find it almost impossible to get any other form of insurance including for your home and car
If you are skint why don't you use the PDSA as thats what its for.0 -
No point giving dacouch a hard time - the vet will be able to tell that the injury is old - do you think he is going to collude with you in defrauding an insurance company?
Anyway - that's not the issue - just common sense. More to the point is why are you waiting until Monday for treatment? If you suspect a broken leg (this could cause internal bleeding), surely urgent treatment is required - at least talk to a vet.0 -

Unbelievable
Go ahead and do it then! We'll see you back on here in a few months moaning that you can't get any insurance.
Dacouch was simply telling you what would happen if you do what you are proposing and giving you a sensible alternative - all good advice.
Your attitude really is paw.All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -

That is incredibly cruel, you will make the poor creature wait for 2 days just to save money? Do the animal a favour, find it a home with people who will love it and care for it.0 -

Well said....Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
The OP doesn't appear to have come back since.
Hope the cat is OK.0 -
I agree with Calvinandhobbs, and are hoping that by now you have saught treatment for this poor animal. This cat certainly doesn't deserve you for an owner.
As for the fraudulant aspect - sure go for it if you would like to spend some time and HMP. Insurance companies have "specialist" fraud sections looking out for fraudulant claims, and staff are always on the lookout for what could be a fraudulant claim and referring it over for investigation. I accept that not all fraud will ever be sought out, but is it worth the "risk"? And once you have defrauded an insurance company over say pet insurance, I expect that you will then struggle to get insurance with them for anything else (ie you will get blacklisted)0
