Painting to highlight doors

We are shortly to move into a new house, the kitchen has white painted units which I find a bit stark, I would like to paint the moulding on the doors in a paler yellow. than the walls.......some tips how to go about this please.......I presume I will have to sandpaper to provide a key for the paint, would one of those little sanders do the job????? I have a problem with my hands using a snading block would not be so easy.

There were a couple of threads quite recently about painting kitchen doors. If you do a search on this forum you should be able to find them. There was lots of advice of how to prepare the doors and what paint to use.
