3e) Your rights if you are prevented from travelling by events beyond your control

    If:
    • you are a consumer.
    • you have been prevented from travelling by events beyond your control and
    • all or part of the fare for your ticket is non-refundable.
we will give you a credit for the non-refundable part of the fare. We will do this if you:
    • have a completely unused ticket
    • have told us promptly about the events beyond your control and
    • have given us evidence of these events
Thanks for reply, according to BA the refund for the non-refundable part of the fare is just taxes/surcharges do you think this is correct.
    Thanks

As the fare is a non refundable one, by now referring to a "refund" they may be saying you can have an actual refund of what you paid for the taxes portion of the fare.

The fare itself is non-refundable, but the condition you quoted says they will give you a credit (less their admin charge) to use against a future ticket purchase in cases where the original ticket isn't used through no fault of the ticket holder.

Get them to clarify what they are offering you.

Thanks again for reply. BA have told us that they will return £80 less £30 admin fee in respect of the conditions. From your quote then do I take it that there could be two separate issues here. First, is the above sum purely for the taxes element of the fare and therefore, should we get a credit for the non refundable part of the fare,or are BA saying that the sum mentioned is the total combined? If the later then I am sure that when we booked ticket the taxes/surcharges where significantly more than £80 though will check before contacting BA.
    Thanks

Only BA can explain how they arrived at the £80 element of the ticket, so get them to tell you.
