Shares are safe with any reputable broker, they belong to you.
Do you trade or Invest?
Or better question how many trades do you do per month as it can affect costs with some brokers. I wouldn't be too worried about TD Waterhouse as they are owned by Toronto Dominion of Canada.
If they are good, then I imagine so are Selftrade and E-Trade.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Under a Nominee account the shares are registered in the name of the broker, but you retain ownership of them, the legal specifics of that i don't know as I'm not a lawyer, but you are the owner under law as I understand it.I thought the shares were held in nominee accounts and that you,the purachser, didnt actually appear as the beneficial owner on the register?Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
