I know it's difficult to gauge personalities in this medium.... even with emoticons (which interestingly you never use.....) but has anyone ever told you to 'lighten up' Col?

My backside snaps to attention every time I see a post of yours.

All of which have tiny particles (silver etc) which actually scratch and dull the surface even more. It's NOT glass, so is not as hardy. It's like using vim on plastic bath.

Do they all? Or just the nasty toxic branded ones? I use a Lakeland glass cleaner made from soapnuts. Can't see silver on the list of ingredients on Stardrops (which isn't a glass cleaner per se) nor can I imagine my Tesco value microfibre cloths contain much silver, but I am prepared to be wrong.

I understand that the marks (and dirt) are there anyway - matt or gloss. And it is good to know that there is a way - e-cloths etc - that will do the job. But I am still going to go the lazy route and have a low maintenance worktop and a few more germs as all I want to have to do is spray the top with my lavender/tea-tree homemade spray and be done with it:D

Thanks for that...off to look at Lakeland glass cleaner!

The silver is impregnated in the E cloths that have been mentioned on here....three quid or so.... only need water to work. I didn't mean ALL microfibre cloths have silver...sorry. My husband will not let me touch our caravan windows with any sort of proprietory cleaner, as they do scratch any non glass surface, epecially plastic, varnish or gloss. Maybe not actual 'scratches' you can individually see, it's more that the scouring action buffs off the top shine

I'll try and find a link to back myself up :D
