    I think the Owl type monitors are better for checking against your meter. We have a Currentcost, and it's fairly accurate. If our meter says we've used 90kwh in a week, the Currentcost will record 94kwh for the same period.

    It is unlikely your meter is dodgy. Most likely is you're using too much! Or you have a dodgy appliance, perhaps one with a thermostat that's not turning on and off and so using the max all the time it's on.
