Power consumption fiures

I specifically wanted one that you don't connect to the meter so that I can check the power used by a 100w bulb. If the gadget reads any different, then that may point to the meter being inaccurate. Also, I've read that the Owl has problems with accuracy.
I think the Owl type monitors are better for checking against your meter. We have a Currentcost, and it's fairly accurate. If our meter says we've used 90kwh in a week, the Currentcost will record 94kwh for the same period.
It is unlikely your meter is dodgy. Most likely is you're using too much! Or you have a dodgy appliance, perhaps one with a thermostat that's not turning on and off and so using the max all the time it's on.0
