You'll need to replace the washer in the ball-valve, easy enough if you can get at it.
Shut off the supply, remove the ball-valve arm (usually a split pin) take out the old washer and replace it.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Whats overflowing? central heating? cold water tank?
first guess would be washer ior damaged ball float0 -
Small plastic tank in loft which (I think) feeds Worcester 24CDi combi boiler.0

The ball valve may just need adjusting, or washer etc. as suggested above. Hopefully it is easy to shut off, trace the pipe which feeds it back and you may find a valve. If not then the main stop !!!! will do it. Its not a difficult job and a good diy book should explain the process well alongside diagrams if you need help.0
