£1800 New Boiler inc Labour

Hi

Our 12 year old boiler is kaput. We have had to have it fixed twice in 4 years, not too bad I'm thinking considering how much we use it. However, we had a good plumber out yesterday and he took it apart and sorted it... (bill £60)

However, heating and water stopped again last night at 8.

We have contacted him again and he'll be over this afternoon...he did say to me yesterday that as the boiler was getting on we might like to think about a new one. Especially since he now thinks it may be the fan which will be £200 to buy and fix.

He has said a new boiler adn installation (and removal) would be £1800 does this sound right.

Thanks all
PS brrrrr!

  • Hi,

I was in exactly the same position last January so I feel your pain!!!

I'm in the West Yorkshire area and my local company quoted me £1400 for a Vailant combi boiler.

It was my best quote at the time but like I say, this was a year ago.

    Good luck getting sorted

it all depends on the job.i need a regualar boiler to combi swap.meaning old boiler, old hot water tank.new regulations mean a new 22mm gas pipe from meter, powerflush.cheapest quote £2500 most expensive was £4000 even £500 more than british gas who are supposed to be the most expensive.
  • Think I'd rather pay £200 to fix the boiler than £1,800 to replace it!

Last year I had my 15 year old boiler replaced with a worcestor bosch combi boiler and i paid £1995, £1800 seems like a reasonable price.

Having mine replaced at the moment - straight swop (heat only boiler not combi) - Boiler is a Baxi Solo HE plus new timer pack - inlcuding labour is £1,100.

I had my system swopped over last year, I had a cold water system (tank in the loft etc ) changed to a combi boiler system for £800 + the cost of the new boiler (which I bought myself) I bought a Biasi combi for £400 so total cost £1200 but I could of paid a lot more for the boiler for say a Worcester but the fitting cost of £800 would have been the same.
I thought this was good considering all the ripping out of the old system, replacing pipes etc and we had the boiler moved to a different part of the house.

    Hope this helps.
