Call Centre Short-Cuts

There was another article in the Mail on Sunday today about short-cuts to call-centres. Here's how to get put through to a person as quickly as possible at the following financial institutions:
Abbey: 0845 9724724 ~ Don't press anything, even when prompted.
First Direct: 0845 6100100 ~ Kudos; Call goes straight to an operator.
Halifax: 0845 7203040 ~ At every prompt, press 8. Takes about six presses.
Lloyds TSB: 0800 0969779 ~ Don't press anything.
MBNA: 0800 062062 ~ Press * three times.
Scottish Widows: 0845 8450829 ~ Press 4 twice.
I haven't tried them myself but would be interested to hear if they work! The website has also got short-cuts to other big companies:

Well at least they didn't publish any '0870' numbers in that list! But c'mon, anyone reading this this should be using alternative freephone or '01/02' numbers to call banks for routine stuff anyway

Abbey make it easy for you, they print the "normal" number next to the 0845 on the back of their cards! I'm not sure it's quicker to wait for an operator, as the message goes on for a while and you only have to press one number before getting through anyway.0
