HELP - Goodmans VR518 Video Recorder

It is a bit of a cheek to post this thread, and I will understand if Martin removes it. However, I seem to have exhausted all possible alternatives, so I hope someone can assist!

I bought a 2nd hand Goodmans VR518 VCR (Video Recorder) from a local TV shop, and then discovered that there was no handbook!

I contacted Goodmans, who said that this item was made exclusively for Comet, so I then contacted them, top see if I could purchase or download the handbook. The answer was that I should contact my local Comet store. However, they no longer stock this model.

Does anyone know where I can buy or download the handbook? If not, does anyone HAVE this model? If so, I would be quite happy to pay the cost of having it photocopied and mailed, or alternatively scanned and emailed.

Please help if you can!

I believe alba (goodman) will have an online database for instruction manuals soon.

Dont pay for a manual just yet !

No significant success! Signals UK referred me back to Comet! After much more internet searching, I identified Comet's "accessoriesdirect@cpc.co.uk" email address. However, the only response was "I can confirm that there are no spares available for this model of video recorder."

I am making one further try to Comet, asking whether there is at least an instruction book for a SIMILAR model, which covers the essential features in the Menu (Timer Program, PR preset, VCR setup) and hopefully other features on the remote control ("A SEL", "PAL/SEC", an "A" in a square box, and "Index" (+/-) ).

n.b. the remote control has the data "VR-F2PA" and "97P1R2PAA4" printed on it.

I'll report is there is any progress, but am beginning to doubt it!

No luck!

I tried Alba, whose number has changed to 0870 873 0094 in case anyone wants to TRY TO contact them. However, all you seem to get is an infinite music loop. plus an intermittent suggestion to email customercare@albaplc.co.uk, "who will normally reply within 48 hours".

I emailed them on 22nd February and got a reply TODAY (6th March) saying that they no longer stock the manual, and also suggesting that I try the telephone number (as above!).

Looks like I have failed, unless one of the readers really does have a copy of the manual!
