It would not be better to renew with Norton :p ,in fact you would be wayyyy better off without Norton. I would suggest investigating Kaspersky internet Security 2009 (30 Day free trial) or Eset Smart Security (60 day free trial with ESS0902 promo code).

Oh and if you do decide try out another security suite you;ll need to run the Norton removal tool as "add and remove" from programs list won't be enough on its own.

this will remove Nortons for you

some ISP's like BT and Virgin offer free versions of Mcafee/Nortons etc as part of your package

Well if you buy it 'new' from Symantec it only costs £59.99, so a renewal for £67 is a pretty cynical rip off. Is that Symantec's idea of rewarding customer loyalty?
Much better to ditch Norton and get a better program, I would recommend Kapersky Internet Security which is £39.99.
If by any chance your online bank is Barclays, they are currently giving you Kapersky free on a one year license, just log in to your account and follow the link to download it.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

If your going to pay ~ use KASPERSKY
If free ~ use AVIRA with PCTOOLS FIREWALL

Either way use MALWAREBYTES and SUPERANTISPYWARE (both free) as secondary scanners

Use FIREFOX in place of internet explorer and use the NOSCRIPT plugin (Will prevent most dodgy bogus webpages. ie ~ banking)

If you want Kapersky Internet Security 2009 then try Ebay there's plenty of sellers selling Activation keys or the software itself for around £10 - £15. But always check out their feedback to make sure that they have sold it before and have been selling it to others for at least a couple of weeks. This will prove it is a legit seller not some chancer with a dodgy keygen.

Eset Smart Security (60 day free trial with ESS0902 promo code).

Just out of interest, where do you get promo codes for Eset? I've never seen one anywhere.

They just send me general "Eset news" emails from time to time. I must have ticked or opted in to receive them - although I don't remember when :p - because there's an unsubscribe link in their emails from: eset.news(at)news.eset.co.uk is the addy.
