Halifax Student A/c - Renewing Overdraft early, good idea?

Hi,

I have a Halifax Student Account with £2750 Overdraft. I believe I have operated it well (plenty of credits + debits), never incurred any charges. I do however constantly stay around the -£2500 mark.

My overdraft is not up to renewal until May, but I was thinking of renewing it soon (and possibly upping it to £3000), is this a good idea?

Main reason is that I have a £3000 Web Saver (Fixed) with them which expires mid Apr, after that I will definitely not be keeping them with Halifax, but moving it elsewhere. That's why I was thinking of renewing it now, to 'look' like a better customer! Other than that, I do have a Regular Saver with them, currently at £2500 balance.

Is this renewing early a good idea? If they decide they do not want to renew my overdraft (hope not!), will it only be affected from May onwards, or will they do so immediately?

Thanks!
