hi,
I noticed in Morrisons the other day that Semolina was quite expensive per can and there were no options to buy cheaper versions so when I saw the powder in the food weigh house I bought some ,,,, I have ust attempted to make it and its terrible!! I used milk as I would imagine you would and just mixed it to the consistancy I thought would suit.
It tasted powderer and awful absolutley nothing like the lovely stuff I used to get at school ....
Any ideas?
Jen

How long did you cook it for? I make it like a baked rice pudding and cook it on a low heat in the oven for about an hourBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi top_drawer, did you add any sugar? When I have brought semolina in a packet..as i have my moments when something warm and sweet will only do  I add milk and some sugar- My packet says 40g of semolina, 25g of sugar and 600ml of milk. May well be the reason why it didn't taste of much. Hope that helps. kal25:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

Correct. And adding some grated lemon peel, a little lemon juice and a teaspoon or so of vanilla essence makes it totally delicious."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

Hi
Semolina is my favorite pudding! I always use the same recipe:
1 pint milk
40g (1.5oz) semolina
25g (1oz) castor sugar
15g (0.5) butter
I heat the milk til it is luke warm then add the semolina and I stir it on the lowest heat until it boils & thickens. I add the sugar & butter and cook gently for around 5 minutes stirring often. I know it ages standing at the cooker but it is worth it!!
I think I need to go and make a pudding now:rotfl::hello:Lukiesgirl

Actually on the packet I have of Whitworths the instructions say heat on the hob and then you cook in the oven for half an hour.... I always use these and it comes out great or you can do in microwave but that sounds more fiddlyMum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0

Ditto,
The semolina swells as it cook so you need very little. I use the quantities above.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
