Just wanted you all to be aware that Sky sends out special offers to new and existing customers and then tries to renegue on those offers when you want to take it up. I recently received an offer of half price Sky movies and Sky Sports for 3 months. This offer was received in writing on 21st February and I phoned on that day to take up the offer. I was told that I was not entitled to that offer and the people at Sky implied that I had not in fact received it. I had the document in my hand but the telephone operator claimed that I did not!!! I was fuming and spoke to a manager who was just as rude but they did me a favour and gave me the offer. I wrote to Sky who merely replied to say that the offer had been sent to me in December and expired at the end of January - again implying that I am dumb and cannot read a document. Can just imagine what I will find when I get my next statement!!!

Yet you are still with them.0 -
the direct debit scheme means they can only take payment on or after a specified date requested on the set up.
They should therefore refund your bank charge

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to deal with the following:
I set up Sky TV last year (v.good offer!) and as with every new direct debit I asked them to take it out on my payday or soon after. I found recently through my online banking they had taken the subscription fee a day earlier this month and it was returned unpaid.
I called Sky the day it happened (i was not sure if i would be charged yet, but suspected i would), and they were not too helpful aside from explaining the payment date was set to the day before my payday, so I just asked them to change the date. This is their error, and my bank have since charged me £8 for the rejected payment.
I then got a letter from Sky which at the very top had a solid black box with bold white letters inside "MAKE SURE THERE'S ENOUGH MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT TO PAY YOUR SKY BILL". As far as I was concerned I had, and it's not my fault. I don't know what my rights are, or feel confident at approaching them again. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Sky did the exact same thing to me even though I had specifically asked the payment date to be the 24th which is they day after I get paid. they took it on the 22nd. I called my bank and after much reluctance on their part, they finallly did a direct debit indemnity for me which refunded the money to my account straight away. I complained to sky about it but got nowhere really! They are useless and just don't give a damn!

We have a very simple set-up for our direct debits. We have a separate account for our direct debits, and on the 25th of each month (pay day) money is automatically transferred by standing order from our current account (where our pay is paid into) into our direct debit account. Then you know all your direct debits for the month are taken care of and anything left in your current account is yours to do what you want with. It then doesn't matter if the direct debits alter by a few days.0
