Is gordon brown and his cronies to blame. 10 reasons why to come, what are your opinions?
1). Selling off 400 tonnes of gold as chancellor when gold was as a 20 year low against BOE advise costing us 3-5Bn.
2). Lowering VAT to 15% costing 12.5 bn with little or no benefit
3). Fred Goodwins Pension being discretionary!! 650k down the pan.
4). UK's Contribution to EU in Euros costing us 7bn
5). Giving up Uk's 7bn rebate from EU.
6). Lost revenue in savings tax to government, not to mention the harm it is causing savers (The bunch which have been prudent).
7). Letting Kaupthing operate in uk without proper cover and using illegal terrorism laws to get money back.
8). Brown pushing ahead with lloyd tsb and hbos merger.
9). 4bn a year now being lost off shore because of poor savings rates.
10). Banks selling so much bad credit to each other, so that no one was sure what was bad loans anymore (us sub prime market), where was the healthy balance of savers and borrowers. This was on your watch mr brown as first chancellor and then pm, were you asleep?:j

Yes he's to blame for the banking crisis and recession in the UK.
Who is to blame for the recession and banking crises in Iceland Ireland America France Germany Denmark Netherlands Italy Austria Latvia Eastern Europe Malta Japan etc etc which all hit at the same time as ours?
I'm not saying that Brown is devoid of blame - clearly we got a lot wrong. But with the same phenomenon striking all over the world at the same time, don't you think there is something else going on other than just G Brown?0 -
It was good seeing Mandy pasted today though wasn't it?Rochdale_Pioneers wrote: »Normal brown stuff.0 -
I'm with you on that one, but then you lose me completely. You blame a Govt because people made the wrong choice. I suspect you would also blame a Govt for preventing you from having a choice:rolleyes:1). i'm not blaming mr brown for the recession, just some of his decisions are baffling and beyond belief. Only time will tell what shape we end up in.Mortgage Start jun 2007 £88500 Outstanding Balance £51000

You seem to have again, completely missed the fact, that the things listed, were indeed, unique to the UK and gone off on a tangent about it's global again.
Tell me I don't understand, as usual, if you like. But seriously. Before going off on brown auto pilot defend mode, try reading the points made?0 -
Graham, old chap:
could you summarise for us what would you have done differently over the last (say) five years?0 -
I bet £75bn of the £150bn was allocated in December.Not Again0

To be fair though it wasn't actually his job to guide us through this. It's easy to say "what would YOU do". When it's not us and not our problem. That's why you have to put some faith in these people who you vote in to run the country.Graham, old chap:

Will you please give this one joke of yours a rest?sockpuppets wrote: »Greetings fellow sock puppet0
