Computeach

Evening all,

I posted this on the "Anything else moneysaving" board because I hadn't seen this one.

If you have been reading my SOA thread on debt-free wannabe, you will know that a large percentage of my debt is a loan for some computeach courses. In July they will get a whole lot bigger, as the interest joins the party.
Since joining computeach in June 2008, I have changed jobs and my new employer is a further education college, with all these courses on site. And the best bit, is I can do them for free.
So obviously, I don't want to be paying £3055 (or over £6000 when the interest kicks in) for the computeach courses.
I have spoken to computeach, and the nice lady on the phone explained thier 14 day cancellation policy, and that I was way past that point. She advised me to email the customer care dept. and mark my message for the attention of management. I should explain the circumstance and they may award me a "partial" refund. Now until I hear back from them I believe this to be a huge "fob off".
Somewhere in my SOA thread, someone mentioned that this may fall under the same juristiction as Gym Memberships, and therefore I may be able to demand a refund as I no longer need or want thier services.

Could someone please explain to me the exact ins, outs and pitfalls that I may face. And if infact I have a case for a refund.

Many thanks in advance for your time

  • Don't like your chances tbh, you signed an agreement and just because your circumstances changed shouldnt mean you can walk away.

You are unlikely to be even to get a partial refund as Computeach wont be able to market the second half of a course so your place is wasted.

You signed an agreement for the course and legally you have to pay.

    Hi,

Just to say I had experience of Computeach - back in about 1986/7.

I actually found them quite good ... I did 2 city guilds in computing, which then got me a job in computing (at the bottom level) & then I managed to use that experience & qualifications to get into Uni in 1991.

Before starting the course I was earning about £6000 working at Big Macs ... since then my career has gone from strengh to strengh - & it all started with Computeach.
