Private Car Park?

The car my son contract hires was issued with a parking ticket when it was parked in a free car park which serves the Metro (tram) in Manchester.

The ticket issuer seems to be Central Ticketing in Birmingham.

The owner of the car is the Finance Company but my son is the registered keeper of it.
  • Is the law different for Contract Hirers?
  • Is the law different for Metro (train/tram) station car parking? I read somewhere that different by-laws apply to train stations.
He wrote to the ticketing company asking to see the proof of who was driving (and of course they have replied with proof that the car was parked contrary to their regulations but with no evidence of the driver).

They have replied 3 months after his letter to them. How should he now proceed. (I now realise he should have ignored their ticket if this is a private car park)

There are no applicable laws relating to private parking companies, so contract hire is not an issue. Unless this ticket was issued under the railway by-laws (and the ticket must say so if it was) then this is just another unenforceable invoice, so ignore anything they send you, and don't contact them again.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
