Does anyone know how long it takes to either be accepted or declined by First Direct.

I applied online for their 1st account today, with a credit card and e-savings.

I'm a student, with 5k income and currently with HSBC. I have no past history and 10 searches, therefore I'm not holding out much hope.

If I ring them tonight, will they tell me if I've been accepted or declined or do i need to wait a few days?

I would ring them straight away. But I'm impatient. :rolleyes:

I was advised by email a couple of hrs after applying online. What they said was my application (subject to final checks) was successful. Until you get the formal letter through the post (only takes a couple of working days) you won't know for sure.

By the way, if you want free banking with the 1st Account you need to pay in at least 1500 quid a month.

I'll just do a few transfers from 1st direct to my other account and back again once a month.

Just phoned them. Got declined.

Nope. They just said 'Unfortunately, we cannot offer you banking services, Goodbye'.

Oh well, hard luck. Hope you find something else - there's plenty to choose from.

did someone actually just say that or was it computerised? If a human thats disgraceful just to say goodbye lol (i'd be spitting feathers)

You don't need to pay in £1500, you just need to open a savings account or a credit card.
I applied with a £4000 income, rang them up and he said a letter should arrive soon and I was accepted. I didn't realise till recently that they shouldn't have accepted me :P
