Does anyone know how long it takes to either be accepted or declined by First Direct.
I applied online for their 1st account today, with a credit card and e-savings.
I'm a student, with 5k income and currently with HSBC. I have no past history and 10 searches, therefore I'm not holding out much hope.
If I ring them tonight, will they tell me if I've been accepted or declined or do i need to wait a few days?

I was advised by email a couple of hrs after applying online. What they said was my application (subject to final checks) was successful. Until you get the formal letter through the post (only takes a couple of working days) you won't know for sure.If you will the end, you must will the means.0

By the way, if you want free banking with the 1st Account you need to pay in at least 1500 quid a month. If you will the end, you must will the means.0

You don't need to pay in £1500, you just need to open a savings account or a credit card.
I applied with a £4000 income, rang them up and he said a letter should arrive soon and I was accepted. I didn't realise till recently that they shouldn't have accepted me :P0
