I'm no mechanic so find it a bit stressful, especially when spending large sums of wonga.
If I super chip the GT I should get ~185HP
Thats going to go like !!!!!! off a shovel
It's Torque is your friend on a diesel.(thats why they trash petrols at overtaking)
The standard 2.2 honda does 0-100mph in 14 seconds due to the tourque (I think it just makes the earth revolve the other way)
My S80 can have a ECU remap to 440N tones of tourque. but that is just stupid amounts of pulling power. You would leave your liver in the boot.:D0 -

Diesels have come such a long way. We had an ancient Passat when I was a kid - that was a real dog. Nowadays diesels are pretty fast cars, not to mention efficient. I was reading up about a new type of diesel engine that will be able to do 75gm/km of carbon.
And one can errr top them up on vegetable oil occasionally

Oooh, which one? I'll be assisting the economy by betting and drinking next week, and swearing at the telly if that helps at all.
I just moved house so Debenhams have been doing well out of me as new rental place is missing a few key items ( ie towel rail and ironing board). Also have to buy a toilet seat for the first time in my life to replace the shocking novelty one. !!!!!! who apart from students has novelty toilet seats? They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

You won't of course get a decent sized car or for that matter much acceleration on a 75gm/km diesel, basic laws of thermodynamics come into play (heat of combustion versus work output and efficiency even if the compression cycle was of ideal efficiency) My turbo diesel is rated at 139gm/km and to me the car is a happy compromise of performance, size and economy. True there is perhaps more particulate, unburnt hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxides emitted than one would like but better than the technology on older cars and the next generation of diesels will be much better still.
Edit: As for vegetable oil I wouldn't touch it but a properly engineered commercial blend, yes indeed.0 -
I've been contributing by errr.....buying nothing.
In fact, no holiday this year, no new telly, no new car (not that I have ever had a brand new one), no new clothes, no days out with the children that cost money, no new kitchen (again never had a new one of those either)...goodness my life is boring.
My version of retail therapy is spending £20 in the supermarket buying food.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I suggest you delete this post.0 -

I had an old Passat...a lorry tried to kill it on the M25 but it was a tough old begger and survived to tell the tale.
I rue the day I sold that car to take over hubbies Audi, the Passat had gone straight through the MOT 4 years in a row (it was 8 years old when we got it), never gave me trouble and felt solid. The Audi on the other hand was a complete turkey, cost loads to get through the MOT each year, felt flimsy and in the end, the cam belt went 40k too early completely beggering the engine.
The only good thing about the Audi was the oomph when you started off from the traffic lights etc, the Passat it was put your foot down and wait.
Edited to add - They were both turbo diesels. We made it!
