I've been helping some newbie friends of a friend today to set up listings ready for Thursday and whilst I thought I tended to over labour a point, I obviously don't! Having explained a few times about what a 99p start means just as I was finishing up I got the question 'how though do I stop someone winning this item for 99p as it is obviously worth more than that so I need to put a sort of resrve of £3 on it' :wall:
So, in case there are newbies reading this and we regulars haven't actually explained the pitfalls of a 99p start please be careful. A 99p start means that your item can sell at 99p ecven if you think it is worth more, refusing to sell when you have a winning bidder is a recipe for disaster. There will be thousands of 99p listings going up in future, that means yours will be mainly overlooked due to sheer numbers which makes a 99p winning bid more likely. No you can't have a reserve of less than £50.
If you really really don't want to take 99p for an item then don;t start it at that, start it higher and pay an insertion fee.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin, a bit off topic but is Auctiva running ok now? Last email I got from them was that they are still having problems with malware?
It's now running as usual for me, which means quite a bit of downtime again but mostly OK.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
