We are a family of five who are travelling to Las Vegas in August, our youngest child is 12 and the oldest is 18, could anyone recommend a good hotel with a decent pool (for us to cool down in), bearing in mind this is our first visit. Thanks for your help

Before any of the Vegas massive jump in and start giving you deals for the Venetian et al. Can i suggest that in terms of the pool you want to make sure it is not shaded. The Luxor is perfect (and one of the best and on the cheaper end too) And don't let anyone moan about the location it is perfect.0

Wow isnt it going to be immensely hot in August?
Agree about Luxor when we visited It we thought it was fantastic and much better than where we stayed ( MGM grand which was also excellent) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Check out the Vegas thread page 1..loads of info, here is a link to a great site that has reviews of every hotel and pool in vegas.

We love Vegas but last August we were glad to leave the opressive heat after a week. I woud never say don't go then but just be aware.
It's low season then so don't book a hotel that is non refundable at this point as there will be some great deals about a month before.
Personaly I don't like the Luxor- it's not horrible-just there are nicer places for the same budget and with the ages in your group would be looking at the Mandaley Bay or the Flamingo for the nicest poolsI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

August is hot, but its not too hot to bung on a bit of tanning oil and fizzle away. Besides, every half hour or so just go for a dip in the pool to cool down.
Or if you are a bit tender and sun shy hire a cabana.

IMO August is to hot for kids especially without any shade.
The OP didnt mention a budget, they may have a budget that would include the Wynn ?? who knows.0 -

To be fair though the kids are 12 and 18.
The 12 yr old will no doubt be flaunting it in the pool to all the other hormone raging teenagers, whilst the 18 yr old slyly drinks Vodka from a coke bottle and eying up the opposite sex from behind their sun glasses.0 -

In fairness your description of the 18 year old could fit every married man over the age of 30
