N Power Undercharging Bill?

Hi,
I am being chased by N Power for debt to a flat I havn't lived in for 1 and a half years as they are saying that the prepay card meter was set wrongly for a period of the time I was living there.
I was looking for any advice for my rights in having to not pay this debt as I feel it is unfair as I havn't lived there for so long and think it should have been their responsibility at the time to ensure the meter was set correctly as I believed it was and paid for the electricity I used.
Any help appreciated!

nPower's policy is to limit debt-collection to a maximum of £70 in these circumstances"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Thanks
Yes my bill was for £70 although they have just said they will reduce it to £52.50 if pay now.0 -

I can't see any reason for you not having to pay this debt - prepayment doesn't guarantee there won't be a closing balance if you move/switch. They've reduced the debt as a goodwill gesture so I think you've done OK.
That sounds unsympathetic - I can understand how annoying it is to have something like this land on you when you thought you'd done everything right and it was done with. But I don' think you have any rights not to pay this debt.0 -
They will only reduce down to £70 if the meter is a Token Meter and was installed before a certian date.
new rulings mean that incorrect tarriff's can be classed as true debt!!!!
So if you join nPower on a prepay meter please use the device that is sent to you.....:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year
