were supposed to give you hot water `on demand`and was not related to the central heating
How comes ours gives hot water quicker if the central heating is on ?

I'm no expert, but that sounds like common sense to me.
If the boiler is already 'fired up', it's bound to supply hot water quicker than if it is idle when you turn the tap on.0 -
That sounds plausible to me, although I wouldn't expect it to take much longer to give you hot water without the heating. Are you talking about a few seconds or significantly longer?0
-
MIne does that too.
But if it's off when I turn the tap on it takes at least 15 - 20 seconds to start coming out warm. The boiler is about 3 feet away from the tap.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Thats what i thought , but my brother whos a gas engineer said they are different functions and shouldnet matter if the heatsings on otherwise in the summer its gonna cost more money running water till it`s hot and the boiler is going to work harder than it does already ??0 -

Your brother has quite a poor understanding of how these things work and IM's explanation was much closer to the truth.
Whilst central heating and hot water are two different functions (obviously) the same heated system water is used for both. If it is already up to or near its proper temperature because the heating is on, there is far less work for the boiler to initially do and hot water is produced significantly quicker.0 -

Someone asks for advice on a forum. Gets the same answer from several people. Doesn't like the answer as it doesn't agree with what someone else told him. Person insults the one giving him advice.
Why did you ask if you weren't prepared to listen?
IMO EliteHeat's answer was concise and factual. It didn't seem smarmy to me.0 -
