    About 3 years ago maybe? Not sure if before that they were always non-generic. And presumably Dell aren't going to tell us so we can go and buy our PSU's somewhere cheaper than Dell!

    Dunno, my XPS420 is about a year old, before that i had a Dell Vostro and that had a standard PSU so about 2-3 years could be right

    I think it was mainly the Dimension desktop range but it may have been others too.

    looked at this same unit for someone (dead mobo) and the PSU was standard

    think so , was full of fluff (fans/processor fins, Inlet/outlet vents, all the drives ) and think it just baked everything , MOBO went first , put the Hard disk in another machine and it ran for about 6 months berfore failing
