If the £20,000 is a student loan then don't worry too much about that, it doesn't show up on a credit report and he won't need to make any repayments until he earns £15,000. Also the student loan gets written off after a number of years anyway so don't overpay on it when he does find a job.

I felt the same when I left uni in June 07 with a degree in computer science, it seemed like there were no jobs, I couldn't even get data input jobs just as a stop gap, but after a couple of months I found a perfect job, just like your son will.

There are employers out there that will be glad to take on people with no experience. For example, a local web design company near me just took on a web/graphic designer with NO experience and NO qualifications whatsoever in that field.

Gaphic design is something that your son can do at home, have him do some ficticious work as a portfolio to send to employers. Has he got a website about himself? If not get him to do that and include his sample work on it.

I found these sites good for these sort of jobs:

    https://www.cwjobs.co.uk - everything I.T
    https://www.theitjobboard.co.uk

    Hope this helps a bit.

    No problem.

I'm now working self employed as a web developer and I'd be happy to have a look at his website. You can Private Message me the link on here if you like.

I'll also keep my ears open for anyone that needs a remote graphic designer.
