Elec/Gas first 900kWH £x amount and after that £y amount.... Eon customer

I can kinda guess that the first 900kWH of gas/elec is charged at one rate, and then after that charged at a lower rate..... however I am not sure how they use the meter readings to calculate this.... is it the first 900kwh at the start of the year for a 12 month period, or per quater, per month?!?!... - im a tad confused by it - can anybody explain how it works?!

Hi Splank,

The threshold is 900 primary units for the year, E.ON charge primary over each quarter, that way you don't have one quarterly bill each year that is higher due to nothing but primary units.

In effect each quarterly bill will have 225 kWh at the primary rate.

A quarter is 91.25 days (365 divided by 4), so if the bill covers this time frame you will be charged no more than 225 kWh on that bill.

If the bill period fluctuates the number of primary units you are charged that quarter will also change.
