I Dont Know What To Do !!!!

Good Morning everyone just need a bit of advice please.
Have been working for a company for 6 years at the start i worked full time for the first 3 years and then when i had another child they said i can do part time all day monday all day tuesday and everyother sat morning which suited me really well.
Well i went into work last monday just gone and the manganing director called me in to his office and told me that i was surplus to requirements as teh way the ecommy is today which is fair enough he said he didnt want to make me redudunet but he will have to cut my hours so now i am only doing all day monday and every sat as he doesnt want to pay the other girl overtime ,and i really really dont want to do every sat .
I asked him when does this start and he said asap dont come in tommorow which i taught was harsh .
So later on in the day i had had enough and went and told him i wasnt happy with the arrangement and why was i the only one suffering he said if i didnt agree they everyone else in the company will be on a 4 day week and have a 20% pay cut ,and i told him he cant put that on me its not fair ,hethen said he will offer me £1500 redudancy if i leave now i dont know what to do as i am going to be called into the office again on monday and i know he is going to make my life uncomfortable now if i stay there because that is what he is like .
is 1500 enough for 6 years should i take the money and run or should i stick it and bear it and propably end up leaving with nothing becuase i wouldnth be able to take the stigma in the office and the pressure

thanks in advance

debs, the main thing to consider is if you do leave, how likely are you to find another job? £1500 doesn't seem that much if you're paying a mortgage and other bills.

If you need to be at home at certain times/days because of the kids then that's going to make it harder to get a job. If that's true for you then it might be best to keep the job but look for another one.

In terms of how much your entitled to, it's seems to be whatever they are willing to pay, I know someone that is being considered for redundancy after 14 years service with a payout of just £2,000. So it sounds like they will use whatever legal loopholes they can to get away with paying next to nothing.

Have a look at this to give you a rough idea of entitlement.

You could also try giving ACAS a ring to check on your rights.

Good luck, whatever you decide to do, and don't let your employers emotional blackmail affect your decision - if he cuts other people's hours, that's down to him not to you so don't feel guilty.

and try to keep it professional at work, even if he's trying to wind you up. He sounds like a bully to me. Maybe it would give him pause for thought if you informed him you'd "...taken some advice" as you want to see what your options are, there's no need to expand on that.

Good idea as above to check berr and acas. I'd suggest you speak/go into your CAB Citizens Advice Bureau and ask their advice.

However, do you have a contract? I thought flexi-time was a new EU ruling so if you do have commitments you're allowed to state those although I realise in the real world some employers don't care.

I would suggest don't accept the £1500 cos that's him trying to get rid of you easily. You could have a look at following that I got from CAB

Maybe I'm not being very helpful but just to give a teeny bit of support. Sure other MSE's will come up trumps.
