Slaters may have changed, but last time we went in there a number of years ago, the suits were sold as a suit, so you couldn't mix and match the trousers and jackets for sizes like you can in Marks.

Have a walk round Moss Side with your wallet showing..you will soon end up in a nice grey concrete suit in a pillar holding up a motorway flyover ; )

you have too much time on your hands.

    (less of the stereotypes)

I think slaters are OK. I got a reasonable suit for a reasonable price from there a few years ago, but I don't think I'd buy another from there.

On the positive side - they measure you so you know the size is right, and they will alter for free if need be. They've got a range of suits for all budgets.

On the negative - As previous posters said, you can't mix and match so you are limited to which suits you can pick (despite the free alterations), and it is a bit "are you being served". Overall I felt a bit pressured by the whole process, and I felt obliged to buy a reasonable suit instead of something I really liked. And they try an sell all the extras such as shoes, shirt and ties (I can't blame them but I done want the pressure). They also asked my budget when I walked in, and then proceeded to show me the suits £20-£40 over what I'd said, so if asked give a figure lower than what you want to spend.

    Hi,

Wife is forcing me to buy a suit this weekend since we have some friends weddings coming up...

Just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere good with sales on in the manchester area... Don't really shop for clothes much so without any tips will probably just head to the arndale...

    Thanks!

By the sound of that you dont buy many suits or have much use for them. On that basis have a look at Primark. Suits are all about the fit, if it fits well, it looks good. The downside with Primark is they probably dont wear very well, but thats not a problem for you if its only for a wedding. Secondly try some of those chains like "suits for you" in the Trafford centre. I bought one for £99 and its as good as some i have for £300. Why, because they fit well.
